Mission

THOMAS DALE HIGH SCHOOL has a long tradition of excellent music, art and theatre programs as a part of its program for regular students. Chesterfield County Public Schools renovated the facility and worked with teams of professional and collegiate arts specialists to design and implement the SPECIALTY CENTER for the VISUAL and PERFORMING ARTS program in 2002. The program offers an honors arts program that accepts the best musicians, dancers, actors and artists from all areas of Chesterfield County through an application process in the student’s 8th grade year. The program offers:

• Intensive instruction in the student's chosen area of theatre, music, visual arts or dance
• Accelerated courses in the arts as well as core academic areas (including AP and John Tyler Comm. College dual enrollment courses)
• High level performance opportunities for students
• Many residencies, master classes and internships for students with professional artists and arts organizations of regional and international importance (see extensive list)
• Professional sprung floor dance studio, state of the art auditorium, black box theatre, soundproof practice rooms, art and music technology labs, art gallery.
